Northridge, California,
April 03, 2004
With the much anticipated publication of the
fourth and final volume of the Justice League of America and Avengers
crossover, comics fans flocked to Continental Comics on April
3rd to meet artist George Perez. Written by Kurt Busiek,
JLA/Avengers, a co-publication of Marvel Comics and DC Comics, is one
of the best-selling
mini-series of recent times.
Writer Marv Wolfman, a collaborator with
George on the critically acclaimed Teen Titans and Crisis
on Infinite Earths, was also on hand to meet with fans and
autograph copies
of his comics including Superman, Daredevil and Tomb
of Dracula.
I was there as well, doing a bit of advanced
publicity for my forthcoming Erin Starfox novel.
Fans and pros alike had a good time and I think
Marv's
forgiven me for screaming at him about the deplorable state of many
modern
comics at the Doctor Who convention last year.
After the signing, Paul treated George, Marv, Marv's
Wife Noel, myself and a few friends to a pleasant meal at a popular
Northridge restaurant.
It was a fun event.
